A Conversation With… Shipwrecked’s Salema

This Tuesday sees the end of Shipwrecked, T4’s recently resurrected reality show. There have been tantrums, game plans and a ritualistic pig slaughter that make Lord of the Flies look like a trip to Butlins. Turning Japanese

Recently I’ve been watching a show that centres on a pair of loveable rogues fighting oppression. Like so many other TV partnerships, both had their role: one was the brain, the thinker. Misfits: Goodbye Nathan, Hello Rudy

Misfits Series 3 Group ShotSo here’s the first shot of the Misfits gang sans Nathan and inc. “new kid on the block” Woody Rudy. Like many others I was tad miffed to hear that Robert Sheehan was buggering off to prance about in the Old Vic, but then I heard that filling his shoes would be none other than Joe Gilgun and got rather excited.

Gilgun’s ability to add comic-relief to rather serious situations is well documented in This Is England and as Misfits has always managed to balance the lols with the omgs, this could be a match made in heaven.

The third series of Misfits is due to start sometime in November but if you go on over to 4OD now you can find out what happens to old Nathan.

Lab: Rick & Peter - Former No.1 T4 presenter Rick Edwards, tries comedy with a show that is sharp and surprisingly fresh. Edwards offends the disabled community and therefore has to shadow wheelchair-bound Hollyoaks actor, Peter. The show pokes fun of British television and the fact that the main target seems to be the “freak of the week” documentaries that currently clog up our screens makes this show even more appealing.
