Theme Tunes Tuesdays: Vol. 5

Cowboy Bebop is hands down one the coolest shows ever conceived, and a large part of that is down to a killer sound track from  Yoko Kanno. When I first heard the leading track “Tank” I knew I was going to like this show, and like it I bloody did.

Thoughts On New Girl / Thing About Theme Music

The other day I sat down to give Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl another go. For those that were wondering, it’s rock solidly average (the newly invented Square-O-Meter™ below gives a better indication of my opinion on the show).

Turning Japanese

Recently I’ve been watching a show that centres on a pair of loveable rogues fighting oppression. Like so many other TV partnerships, both had their role: one was the brain, the thinker. At Last An Excuse For A Batman Post

So what am I doing posting up a trailer for a straight-to-DVD animated adaptation of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One? That doesn’t exactly fall under our jurisdiction. Well if I’m honest, I just think this looks pretty damn good. As it happens the voice-over cast for this film is a who’s who of TV actors.

First we’ve got an interesting casting of Ben McKenzie (Southland, The OC) as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Then there’s Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Dollhouse) as Catwoman, in a role that she was born to play. And Playing Lt. James Gordon is none other that Brian “Breaking Bad” Cranston. Battlestar’s Katee Sackhoff and Cowboy Bebop’s Steve Blum also make vocal appearances.

So all things considered I’d say that ties in with the whole “television thing” we’ve got going on here rather nicely.
