Theme Tune Tuesdays: Vol. 6

While Avengers Assemble is breaking box office records left, right and centre, let’s take a moment to appreciate the theme tune to director Joss Whedon’s crown jewel, Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

With character’s such as Willow, Anya, (Square Eyed favourite) Faith and of course, Miss Summers herself, Buffy… set a new benchmark for proper hard women. As for the theme tune (by band Nerf Herder not Slayer as the above video claims), it perfectly captures the show’s mix of teen rebellion and fantasy horror, and features some sweet guitar man.

At Last An Excuse For A Batman Post

So what am I doing posting up a trailer for a straight-to-DVD animated adaptation of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One? That doesn’t exactly fall under our jurisdiction. Well if I’m honest, I just think this looks pretty damn good. As it happens the voice-over cast for this film is a who’s who of TV actors.

First we’ve got an interesting casting of Ben McKenzie (Southland, The OC) as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Then there’s Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Dollhouse) as Catwoman, in a role that she was born to play. And Playing Lt. James Gordon is none other that Brian “Breaking Bad” Cranston. Battlestar’s Katee Sackhoff and Cowboy Bebop’s Steve Blum also make vocal appearances.

So all things considered I’d say that ties in with the whole “television thing” we’ve got going on here rather nicely.
