SHOW OF THE MO: Chuck

It would be fair to say that right now, TV is pretty great. Shows such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones will undoubtedly be revered long after they stop airing. Yet no matter how great these shows can be, there’s no denying that they take themselves rather seriously. Even comedies such as The Think of It and Louie are very serious comedies. You have to be in a certain mood to watch them. You certainly don’t feel like watching them when you’re feeling a bit run down, and your brain can barely get its head around the notion of washing your own balls, let alone sitting through a 10 minute diatribe from Louis C.K. about how he doesn’t love his own mother. That’s when a show like Chuck comes in.

SHOW OF THE MO: Wolverine And The X-Men

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Show Of The Mo here on Square Eyed, and there are many reasons for that. That’s not to say we haven’t seen some great TV since last September, there just hasn’t been a show we’ve obsessed over. Shows such as 30 Rock or This Is England… came close but we like to use this feature to highlight shows that most people would’ve skipped out on or have simply never heard of. Taking that in to account, it shouldn’t come as a surprise when I tell you that our new Show Of The Mo comes in the form of a short-lived kids cartoon based around everyone’s favourite X-Man.

Image courtesy of NBCAs has been mentioned in previous posts, America’s new “Fall Line-Up” kicks off this week. We’ve covered what new shows have piqued our interest but what about the shows that are returning. Square Eyed favourites such as The Office, Parks And Recreation, Dexter and The Walking Dead will all be making their return in the next month or so. All of these shows are perfect candidates for Show of The Mo, but as we like to use this feature to shine a light on shows that perhaps don’t get the respect it deserves, then the honour has to go to the criminally underrated Community.

Set in LA, Party Down is about a group of struggling wannabe actors that work as part of a catering team in order to pay their bills. The formula is simple, with each episode being centred around a different event they are working at.
